Here's a bit of news about one of my fiddle students, Steve Peters, from R.A. Fountain General Store:
"[Fountain, NC] Carolina Grass, a newly formed bluegrass band of veteran pickers, celebrates release of its debut CD Friday night at Fountain General Store.
Carolina Grass has quickly become one of East Carolina's most popular bluegrass bands since debuting at Fountain General Store during last year's Peanut Festival.
Pickers in Carolina Grass include Eddie McDaris on upright bass, Tommy Daughtridge and Larry Taylor on guitar, James Brown on mandolin, Steve Peters on fiddle, and Lee Flood on banjo. McDaris, Taylor, and Daughtridge share vocals.
Their new CD, "Cuttin' It Close," includes nine traditional bluegrass tunes, covers of John Fogarty's "Lodi" and New Riders of the Purple Sage's "Glendale Train," and an original number composed by Flood.
The CD was recorded at Mike Rose's AudioFarm in Goldsboro and released in April. Copies will be available at Friday night's show and can also be ordered through R.A. Fountain's e.store.
Carolina Grass's May 17 concert begins at 7:30. General admission is $8; reserved seats, $10."
