Back to School 2013

I can't believe it's that time of year again already! Back-to-school ads are running on TV and I'm getting catalogs in the mail filled with back packs and fleece jackets. All this and we're barely past Independence Day and not even out of July!

But, since back-to-school is upon us, it's time to start looking at my teaching schedule. Many of you are already aware that my teaching schedule has changed just a bit over the summer. I have still been teaching on Tuesdays and Wednesdays but I have moved from teaching on Fridays to Thursdays. This schedule will continue into the fall. This new arrangement is beneficial in many ways: prospective students prefer to keep Fridays free for fun and are more interested in Thursday lessons; my husband works half days on Friday so we'll get to spend more time together as a family; and thirdly, this leaves Fridays free for performances with the bluegrass band I'm playing with.

I've also been making small steps in redecorating my teaching studio so don't be surprised if I poll you on paint swatches while you're packing up to go. I'm hoping to brighten up the studio and add some color so it is a more lively, creative space to work, learn, and play. It's a slow process but a rewarding one and I hope you'll enjoy the end product as much as I am enjoying creating it.

In addition to teaching in my private home studio, I will continue offering violin lessons at Saint Mary School this year. New for this year, I will also be teaching music appreciation classes to the preschool and kindergarteners at Saint Mary's. This will be a new venture for me so I am hoping all goes well, but I know I will have fun leading the children as the explore music.

Well, I have a couple of students arriving shortly, time to make some music!
