I chose the Koe model from Shar Music because of their claim that it boasts more internal volume for the smallest fractional instruments. Oftentimes, the tiny violins sound as small as they look, making it difficult for the earliest beginners to produce a clear, solid tone. After tuning the instrument and trying it myself, I am very pleased with my decision. This small 1/8 size violin sounds quite nice and not at all muffled.
We went upstairs for a lesson right after opening this precious gift and I helped her to stand in playing position, grip her bow, and play the rhythm for Twinkle Variation A of the Suzuki Method. After a few repetitions she said, "I think I've got the hang of this now," and so I naturally grabbed the camera.
